The more ports of Shenmue 3, the more players the series will be exposed to and the better chance we'll have of getting a Shenmue 4. Partly the reason why Shenmue tanked in the first place was because it was limited in its exposure with the first game being exclusive to the Dreamcast and the second game being dumped onto the Xbox with very little marketing where nobody - aside from Dreamcast fans jumping to next-gen - had a clue what the game was about.Įven though the PlayStation 4 has a bigger audience, its still frustrating that Shenmue 3 is restricted to just one console port given past happenings. I never understood the 'Stop being a fanboy and just buy a PlayStation' comments from sage-like masters who ironically occupy a fandom where there is a massive Dreamcast cult following. I'm not sure if it is currently possible given Sony's financial backing of the game, but if Deep Silver could find a means, I'd be ecstatic. One way they could possibly counter this is to now announce for Xbox and give it the best chance possible? Maybe the delay itself is due to a potential Xbox port? Because they are more willing to take a chance. Of course, myself and every other member of this community will put Shenmue before ANY other game this period, but to succeed it needs to be released at a time where people will buy a game because they want something new to play. I'm worried it will be swallowed up and forgotten about, and within weeks be in the bargain bin. How could our Shenmue realistically succeed and thrive during this period - as we all want it to.

Shenmue 3 not coming to xbox one plus#
It's probably more a dream on my part, as the Xbox is my personal console of choice, and has been since the death of our beloved Dreamcast.īut now, surely all bets are off? DS must know that releasing in November isn't the wisest idea with all the typical games out, plus a number of other AAA titles. Lately and even more so now with the recent news of the delay, I have been wondering whether Shenmue 3 would be announced for Xbox at the Microsoft presser this Sunday, or rather any time throughout E3.
